About Devin| Meet the proven leader who specializes in results.

Devin Barrington-Ward has a strong commitment to public service and a passion for politics that represent the interest of progressive causes and the people. In 2008 Devin served as the Campaign Manager to Georgia State Senator Ronald Ramsey (D-Decatur) and was instrumental in a decisive victory in the general election with nearly 84% of the vote. Additionally, Devin has served as a Legislative Aide to Georgia State Senator Lester Jackson (D-Savannah), Special Assistant to DeKalb County Commissioner Lee May (D-GA), and most recently as Chief of Staff to Georgia State Representative Keisha Waites (D-Atlanta).

In the Summer of 2009 Devin received the distinct honor of being nominated by U.S. Representative Hank Johnson (GA-D) for the Congressional Black Caucus Political Boot Camp at the National Labor College outside of Washington, DC. While there Devin participated in training around campaign management, public policy, polling, media relations, and community engagement.

Later Devin went on to become a registered lobbyist with Long Strategies Group. In the 2011 session of the Georgia General Assembly, Devin successfully worked with childcare providers and advocates across the state to prevent disastrous cuts to Georgia’s Lottery funded Pre-K program. That same year Devin was extended an invitation to the White House to participate in a regional leaders briefing with White House Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett.

Devin has also served as a professional volunteer in the role of Project Coordinator for the State of Young Gay America Summit, which served as the official kick-off event for Atlanta Black Pride. During the 2011 summit Devin pressed panelist who ranged from elected officials to non-profit directors about the link between the prevalence of HIV/AIDS among young people and our faltering economy. Due to his contributions to Atlanta's LGBT community he was awarded a proclamation from the City of Atlanta by Councilman Michael Julian Bond.

Currently Devin is participating in a national part-time fellowship program with the AIDS Vaccine Advocacy Coalition, where he is focusing on working with state and local government officials around the country to roll out new biomedical prevention methods, such as PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) and Treatment as Prevention to help reduce the rate of infection in urban communities hit hard by the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

It is Devin's hope to obtain a position where he can utilize his communications, political, legislative, and community organizing skills to advance progress causes both locally and nationally.

“Devin is the definition of excellent work ethic and delivering superior service to the public. He displays a high degree of intellect, superior communication skills and professional courtesy, while constantly delivering results with a positive demeanor that one could only be impressed by…” --- Ronald B. Ramsey, Sr. State Senator of Georgia’s 43rd District
